This year marks the 45th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and the United States. In order to implement the important consensus reached by Chinese President Xi Jinping and U.S. President Joe Biden at their meeting in San Francisco and to respond to President Xi's initiative announced in the U.S. in November 2023 to invite 50,000 American young people to China for exchanges and study within five years, the 2024 "Bond with Kuliang" China-U.S. Youth Festival takes place from June 23 to 30 in Fuzhou city, East China's Fujian province.
The event invites around 500 young people from various sectors in China and the U.S. It centers on the theme of "Inheriting the Bond with Kuliang, Deepening Friendly Relations", and discussions cover topics such as "The Everlasting China-U.S. Connection", "The Diversity and Inclusiveness of Chinese Culture", and "Climate Change: Actions Taken by China and the United States". Round-table meetings, visits, and cultural and sports activities are also to be organized on topics like social media, artificial intelligence, and global governance, providing a platform at Kuliang for enhancing interaction and deepening friendship between Chinese and American youth.
