Fuzhou jasmine tea ranks among China's top 10 in brand cultural influence index

The third China Tea Brand Culture Annual Conference was recently held in Qimen county, Anhui province. At the event, the 2025 China Tea Regional Public Brand Cultural Influence Index Report was officially released. Thanks to its rich cultural heritage and unique brand development, Fuzhou jasmine tea was recognized as one of the top 10 brands and awarded the title of "Outstanding Growth Brand in Cultural Influence".

The report, jointly conducted by leading institutions such as the Center for China Agricultural Brand of the China Academy for Rural Development, Zhejiang University, evaluated 117 regional tea brands across 16 provinces. In the assessment of three key dimensions, namely cultural productivity, environmental strength, and consumer influence, Fuzhou jasmine tea ranked among the top alongside renowned brands such as West Lake Longjing tea and Keemun black tea.

In recent years, Fuzhou has promoted an integrated approach to tea culture, industry and technology, turning brand value into tangible economic impact. The full industrial chain of Fuzhou jasmine tea now generates over 10 billion yuan ($14.5 billion) in output, with a brand value of 16.171 billion yuan.

Fuzhou jasmine tea is also the only city-level tea product in China with its own dedicated customs tariff code, with annual export revenue of approximately $13 million, and products reaching more than 40 countries and regions worldwide.

Industry experts say the index marks a new era for China's tea industry, where cultural influence drives brand strength. According to the Fuzhou Strait Tea Industry Exchange Association, this recognition not only showcases the charm of Fuzhou jasmine tea as both a globally important agricultural heritage and a UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage, but also provides a replicable model for local tea brands seeking high-quality growth through cultural empowerment.
