Kuliang welcomes first drone delivery as Fuzhou expands low-altitude logistics service

A low-altitude unmanned delivery aircraft has recently completed its first landing in Kuliang, Fuzhou, marking a significant milestone in the city's rapidly developing low-altitude economy.

Carrying organic malt juice from Yanping district in Nanping city, the drone touched down smoothly at Zhugangding in Kuliang after a short flight. The mission marked the successful trial of a low-altitude logistics service led by the Fuzhou High-Tech Zone. It represents not only the first drone delivery to Kuliang, but also a key step forward in strengthening coordinated development between mountainous and coastal areas in Fujian province.

The trial delivery established an efficient, three-dimensional logistics chain. Upon receiving an order from Kuliang, the system autonomously planned the flight route and conducted risk assessments before dispatching the drone. The aircraft took off from a smart logistics park, flew 4.8 kilometers, climbed to a maximum altitude of 908 meters, and landed steadily at 788 meters above sea level. The operation demonstrated high efficiency and minimal cargo damage, even in complex mountainous terrain.

A proprietary algorithm developed by a local technology firm played a central role in the success. Designed to adapt to Fujian's challenging coastal and mountainous weather conditions, the system, combined with a high-stability flight controller, enabled precise takeoff and landing despite variable air currents in the Kuliang area. This validates the feasibility and reliability of integrating low-altitude logistics with ecological and consumer applications.

The project also highlights strong collaboration among State-owned enterprises, universities, and technology startups, underscoring the Fuzhou High-Tech Zone's role as a hub for innovation and industrial integration. The initiative offers a promising solution to the "final mile" of delivery in mountainous areas.

The trial further explored the potential of dedicated drone routes for delivering Kuliang's local agricultural products. In the future, high-altitude vegetables and specialty goods from nearby villages could be transported swiftly to urban markets via this "aerial corridor", improving efficiency and supporting rural vitalization.
