On August 4, members of the China-U.S. Youth Cultural Exchange Camp visited the Kuilongfang historical and cultural district in Lianjiang, Fuzhou. The district, which dates back to the Song Dynasty (960–1279), now has its Fuzhou Fish Ball Museum and the Maritime Fuzhou Lianjiang Themed Pavilion.
The Fuzhou Fish Ball Museum is China's first to center around "Fu" (blessing) culture and fish balls, blending local culinary traditions with reverence for culture, esteemed officials, and ancient architecture.
Guided by a commentator, the group explored the exhibitions and delved into the charm of Fuzhou's fish ball heritage and the maritime legacy of Lianjiang. Interactive displays sparked curiosity and lively discussions among the participants.
"Today's visit was incredibly rewarding. The unique fish ball and Fu culture left a deep impression on me," said Lin Yimo, a Chinese American youth.
Lianjiang is known as a major hometown of overseas Chinese in Fujian province, and the participants also witnessed the inauguration of the Lianjiang Liaison Office of the China Hometown of Overseas Chinese (Fujian) Research Center during their visit.
The office, located at the Lianjiang Federation of Returned Overseas Chinese, aims to connect academic resources with local strengths, supporting the cultural and economic development of overseas Chinese communities.
The China-U.S. Youth Cultural Exchange Camp has continued its three-day program in Lianjiang, promoting dialogue and friendship between Chinese and American youth through cultural exchange and shared heritage.
