Capture the beauty of lotus blooms in Fuzhou

As summer unfolds in full swing, Fuzhou bursts into color and vitality. Among the season's most enchanting sights are the lotus flowers, blooming quietly, swaying gracefully in the breeze, and painting the city with their delicate charm. From traditional parks to hidden countryside gems, Fuzhou offers countless places to enjoy the serene beauty of these iconic summer blossoms.

To help you make the most of lotus season, here is your 2025 "Summer Lotus Map", a guide to the best lotus-viewing spots in Fuzhou.

Fuzhou Chating Park: A classic summer oasis

The 25th Lotus Exhibition at Chating Park opened on May 28 and will run through the end of July, featuring nearly 200 varieties and over 600 pots of exquisite lotus flowers. Highlights of this year include poetic varieties like "Lantern under the Moon" and "Autumn Tricolor", along with rare water lilies such as Victoria 'Longwood Hybrid' and Victoria cruziana.

Walk through the park and discover lotus ponds framed by stone arch bridges, winding pavilions, and classic Chinese architecture. In the gentle breeze, lotus leaves rustle softly, blossoms sway, and a light fragrance fills the air — a sensory reminder of summer's arrival.

Along the long corridors, elderly residents rest on carved stone benches, neighbors play chess in the shade, and lotus flowers ripple gently above the water, all coming together to create a peaceful, timeless scene.

Up close, the scene resembles a traditional ink-wash painting: clustered lotus leaves, soft pink petals, and arched stone bridges form a tableau of elegance and purity, rising from the mud, yet remaining untainted.
