Reading is essential for gaining knowledge, developing wisdom and building character. It not only enriches personal growth but also shapes the future of communities and societies. Over the past decade, DiamondreaM has evolved from a "bookstore+" concept to a comprehensive "culture+" platform, merging books, art and cultural exchange into an inviting experience.
Since its founding in 2014 along the tranquil shores of Xihu Lake in Fuzhou, Fujian province, DiamondreaM has been guided by its belief that "when reading returns to life, dreams can become reality".
One of the highlights of DiamondreaM's journey to date is the DiamondreaM Bookhouse in Kuliang, a culturally significant site on the outskirts of Fuzhou. Known for its serene environment and historical significance, DiamondreaM Kuliang has emerged as a cultural landmark, offering visitors a nostalgic reading experience infused with heritage.
The bookstore is housed in the historic Villa of Li Shijia, one of the area's earliest vacation residences. Its preserved architecture invites guests to step into history, with the creaking of old staircases, the gentle hum of vintage music, and the mingling aromas of books and jasmine tea all creating an immersive, sensory introduction to the space.
Honored as a symbol of Kuliang's evolving cultural landscape, DiamondreaM has also partnered with the Fuzhou Library to establish "Encounter with Fuzhou Library", which was recognized as "Fujian's Most Beautiful Public Cultural Space" this July. This model integrates a library, bookstore, and scenic setting, adding further cultural depth to Kuliang. It has become an inviting haven for literary exploration and cultural dialogue, where visitors encounter the "poetry and distance" embodied in books while absorbing Kuliang's historical charm.
Today, DiamondreaM has expanded to operate ten bookstores across locations such as Fuzhou No 1 High School, Fuzhou No 8 School, and Fuzhou Library. In addition, nearly 40 reading sub-brands, such as "DiamondreaM Reading Space", have emerged through partnerships with local organizations, cultivating diverse cultural hubs that aim to inspire people to rediscover the magic of reading.

Expanding its commitment to culture and education, DiamondreaM has also initiated "College Student Cultural Literacy Development Demonstration Base" projects to bring enriching experiences to university campuses. Working alongside the Straits Publishing & Distribution Group and multiple universities, DiamondreaM creates campus bookstores that support education through micro-lectures, online classrooms, and student activities. At Fuzhou University's Qishan Campus Library, DiamondreaM's 1,300-square-meter, two-story bookstore has become a lively hub. The largest university bookstore in Fujian, it houses over 30,000 books valued at approximately 1.4 million yuan (about $192,436.6), featuring spaces for study, reading, and literary salons.
Community engagement remains a priority for DiamondreaM, making reading accessible and enjoyable for people of all backgrounds. Collaborating with schools, rural communities, local governments, and corporations, DiamondreaM builds province-wide networks that foster a love for reading through events like storytelling sessions, book launches, music performances and family reading gatherings.

DiamondreaM organizes over 150 reading events each year, with nearly 1,300 events held in the past decade. These events, from book-sharing sessions to science lectures and cultural salons, have led to the creation of well-loved programs like "Mengshan Lecture Hall", "DiamondreaM KIDS", and "Editors' Book Talk". DiamondreaM also collaborates with public libraries on reading projects that involve citizens in selecting books for library collections, enriching libraries and creating a participative reading culture.
Embracing the digital age, DiamondreaM has expanded its presence on Weibo, WeChat, and other online platforms, ensuring its cultural impact reaches beyond physical locations. This digital strategy provides a wider audience with constant access to DiamondreaM's content, enabling an open exchange of knowledge and ideas.
With locations like DiamondreaM Kuliang steeped in history and a spirit of cross-cultural appreciation, DiamondreaM continues to bring to life the vision of "a life surrounded by the scents of books, wood, and coffee". Through these efforts, DiamondreaM champions a vibrant reading culture, nurturing knowledge, community and creativity in all facets of life.
