In 1907, Arthur William Billing arrived in China with his wife, where he embarked on an unforgettable 40-year teaching career in Fuzhou.
Following the completion of the Billing Villa in 1912, it served as the couple's vacation home for many years.
In 1948, the villa was sold to the Guo family, who named the old house "Bamboo Villa". Over three generations, the Guo family transformed it from a restaurant to a café and a homestay.
In 2017, the descendants of the Billing family came to Kuliang to find their roots and made a special trip to visit Bamboo Villa, capturing a memorable photo with the the Guo family. Amidst the lavish meals prepared by the Guo family, Dean Billing, Arthur William Billing's grandson, enjoyed jasmine tea in Fuzhou, reminiscent of his grandmother's favorite brew.
After seven years, the descendants of the Billing returned to Kuliang, visited their former residence and had dinner with their old friends here.
